Yellowstone enthusiasts rallied to Beth Dutton’s defense on social media after she was surprisingly labeled “the biggest threat to the ranch” by a fan. The controversial statement about Beth, embodied by actress Kelly Reilly and daughter of show patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), emerged after a fan re-examined the Paramount+ series.
The conversation is heating up just as the eagerly awaited Season 5, Part 2, is poised for release on November 10. The latest teasers are fueling speculation among viewers, intensified by news of Costner’s exit from the series.
On Reddit, user @oriolesravensfan1090 sparked a heated discussion with their assessment of Beth’s impact on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, questioning: “Is Beth the biggest threat to the Yellowstone Dutton ranch?”
Laying out their perspective, the fan stated: “As I am rewatching the show I have noticed that Beth seems to be the biggest threat to the ranch, at least inadvertently, her treatment of Jamie pushes him to turn against the family and the ranch, and causes more problems than she fixes. I do understand why she hates Jamie but that hatred threatens the ranch.”
Supporters flocked to the comment thread in Beth’s defense, contending she is actually striving to “save” the ranch more than anyone else in her family, reports the Express. Counterarguments materialized, with one advocate posting: “No. She’s trying to save it.”
There was reference to an incisive moment where John discusses with Beth the hefty costs of moving cattle, prompting her realization of the excessive expense.
Pivoting to problem-solving, she contacts a beef processing plant, opting to bypass intermediaries to conserve funds.
“No. She isn’t the one working with Market Equities to develop it,” a second viewer contested, while another chimed in: “No the biggest threat is John Dutton.”
One fan echoed this sentiment, stating: “Hands down, the biggest threat is John Dutton. What a piece of human garbage.
“If you can’t foster decent relations with your neighbours, and you have to control people by making them believe you have the power to give second chances and you’ll happily watch your children fight each other or drink themselves to death, you deserve to have it stolen from under you. Kudos to Kevin Costner for playing the character so well because he makes me viscerally angry.”
Another viewer pointed the finger at Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), writing: “Jamie is. Any time he doesn’t get what he wants, he loses all common sense and does something he can’t take back or fix. Repeatedly.”
Some fans partially agreed with the original poster, with one noting: “Yeah I agree that Beth is a threat with how she treats people but at the same time she is thinking about how the range can survive in the future and how they need to change with the times.”
While another concurred: “Good question. I’d say it starts with John, but is made much worse by Beth and her hatred. Separately, they are both problematic. Together it’s a perfect storm.”
Excitement is mounting as Paramount+ has announced that Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 will premiere on Sunday, November 10.
